Sizzling Story Of Explosions

A while ago, WGBH released a very good NOVA
installment called Fireworks! We
reviewed it at this link:

Now, they
have unearthed an older installment about explosives and more of their
scientific roots in Kaboom! The Sizzling Story Of Explosions. This reaches back into the early days when
religion, magic and science were mixed up and how the final separations where
such materials are concerned in the 19th Century on the way to all
the breakthroughs and innovations we have today developed. It is a good installment worth your
time. Adding Fireworks! Is a nice bonus, but we do not count it as bonus
material.
The 1.33 X 1 image is soft and likely is an old NTSC
source, maybe second generation. The
Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo has no surrounds, but are clean, clear and when the
explosions hit, just loud enough. Again,
there are no major extras, but you do get DVD-ROM printable materials.
