Blue Murder – Set One (Canadian TV/British TV/Acorn Media)

Not to be
confused with Michael Jenkins’ Australian TV mini-series from 1995, this
Blue Murder is a U.K./Canada co-production about a mother who becomes a
detective the same day she discovers her husband cheating on her. Spoofing the detective genre a bit, along
with things like Horror films, Caroline Quentin is Janice Lewis. This show is running three seasons and
counting, with this first set offering six shows including the first two brief
seasons and the pilot before it.
credit, it never becomes too melodramatic and is a smart show, but the comical
situation has it limits. As she becomes
more involved with her work and promotion, she has new and interesting
challenges. That does give the show a
good arc which explains its initial success, but one wonders if it is going as
far as it could. I like the show enough
to recommend it, but was a little disappointed.
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is shot in HD and the tradedown holds
its color, but detail is lost more than it should be. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo mix has Pro
Logic surrounds and they are decent.
Except for text filmographies on the cast, there are no extras.
