Metal is dominated by males, but the occasional female breaks through. Lita Ford is usually sited as an exception,
though that comes with some controversy.
Doro is the name of a singer who has such a band named after her and has
survived in the male-dominated music genre for 20 years. The three concerts in the new 20 Years: Warrior Soul set shows she is
far from finished with as much energy as ever.
Offering
a few covers of non-Metal songs (White
Wedding, Born To Be Wild, Whiter Shade Of Pale) that offer some of
the more mixed moments, the concerts seem somewhat interchangeable because she
has as much energy as she could in any of them and they are all taped around
the same time. That leaves backstage and
fan moments as much-needed breaks. I am
no big fan of Metal, but on a content and energy level, cannot imagine why fans
would not enjoy this popular import released by Locomotive Records.
The 1.33
X 1 image was shot on digital video and does not look bad color wise, but is
challenged detail wise and note that these are PAL copies we got for
review. We expect no difference in the
U.S. versions. All are in Dolby Digital
2.0 Stereo with poor surrounds, but two include Dolby 5.1 mixes that are
better, if not spectacular. For Heavy
Metal music, I was surprised DTS was not included. There are no extras, though some version come
with a bonus CD if nearly five hours of video is not enough.
