The Catherine Tate Show – The Complete First Season/Series One

Picture: C+     Sound: C     Extras: D     Episodes: C-

I really like British comedy and we guess Catherine Tate is trying to be the next Jennifer Sanders or Tracy Ullman, but after watching the six episodes of The Catherine Tate Show – Series One (2004) now on DVD, I was not laughing and found sketch after sketch rather shrill and pointless.  There is no doubt she has talent just by playing the different roles she does, but so unfunny is this that it is not even typical British comedy.

Hope she is funnier next time.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is soft and has shimmering detail, but color can be consistent.  The Dooby Digital 2.0 is badly recorded, plays back at low levels (so be careful when turning this up) and is barley stereo.  There are no extras.
