Amor Xtremo (aka Extreme Love/2006/Lionsgate)

Chava Cartas’ Amor Xtremo (aka Extreme Love/2006) is the surprisingly melodramatic tale of two brothers from Mexico City trying to break into U.S. Motocross racing and hitting all kinds of pitfalls in the process.  Despite some good actors, acting and even some good moments, this never adds up or builds up as such a tale should.

Maybe he was trying to give the actors a chance to show their stuff, but that would take less melodrama and more action outside of riding bikes, but it is not a total disaster and some may be interested in seeing it.  Though not obnoxious, I was hoping to learn more about Mexico City and why these guys loved the sport so much.

The letterboxed 1.78 X 1 image is poor, despite some good spots of color.  This looks shot in HD or some kind of digital video and its flaws constantly foil the narrative.  The Dolby Digital Spanish 2.0 Mono track is no better with flat sound, especially noticed when the bikes roll.  There are no extras.
