The Hills – The Complete Second Season (MTV DVD)

I have been trying to avoid The Hills like there was no tomorrow.  All I could say is “don’t run for the hills” or “I can’t believe Ames replaced Hills then went bankrupt” but anything to avoid seeing the show.  Well, here is the The Complete Second Season of the show and there “ain’t no mountain high enough” to keep me from telling you how lame this soapy soap opera is.  If it had any more suds, Proctor & Gamble should sue.  Makes you hope those 13 stars are supernatural.

The series is about four very attractive women live in Hollywood and have all kinds of ups and downs trying to find happiness, including finding a good man.  Unfortunately, none of them seem to love film or much about showbiz except that is hip, which just happens to match the shallow attitude of the show.  The acting is not horrible, but nothing great and the result can be improved by playing Aqua’s classic hit Barbie Girl over the audio provided.  You get 3-DVDs and 12 very, very, very long half-hour shows.

The 1.33 X 1 image is very surprisingly soft for a brand new show and the materials are at least one generation down.  The sound is here in Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo with no surrounds.  The combination is trying to say the least.  Extras include two featurettes, “remixes” of the shows, interviews and deleted scenes.  Enough is enough.
