Hallowed Ground (2007/Genius)

Picture: C     Sound: C+     Extras: C-     Film: D

People are being crucified and killed as scarecrows in David Benullo’s tired, unoriginal exploitation flick Hallowed Ground (2007) where a young lady and friend are trapped in a small town and all those there are part of a sick cult.  Now they want her (Wicker Man style) to sacrifice so they can full some sick prophecy.   Unfortunately, Benullo wrote the script and cannot find anything original top put in it, the ultimate horror of watching this often violent without a point mess.  This one should be left on the ground.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image looks poor, with detail troubles, motion hazing and a host of other flaws that make it even annoying to watch.  The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix can be harsh and is uneven in its use of surrounds.  Trailers are the only extras and we can see why.
