Stalking Santa (2007/Excel DVD)

In time for the holidays, Greg Kiefer’s Stalking Santa (2007) is not another horror film or thriller, but a comic mockumentary about how an investigative team goes on a mission to prove and show the existence of the title character.  With no less than William Shatner as narrator, the one-joke flick becomes very thin early on unless you can really buy into the joke.  Otherwise, the 86 minutes can be very trying, boring and even obnoxious.

Recommended only for those in the holiday mood.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is soft and mixed, as expected in its attempt to look like an actual documentary.  The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is also adequate.  Extras include trailer, deleted scenes and “Santa artifacts” that continue the joke.
