Despite
being made for HBO, or landing up there, 1st
& Ten is a very forgettable, unrealistic, dreadful series starring
Delta Burke about football. Before you
make weight jokes, this was after she left Designing
Women and was in top shape, but the ideas and scripts are thinner than
anorexia in this dreadful mess about her owning a team and the trouble it
causes. Too bad it is all predictable
and boring.
How this
ran six seasons shows how much of an empty wasteland early cable was, versus
the crowded one it is now. It is the
kind of show that made the Ace Awards necessary until cable crossed over
permanently, ending disasters like this.
Except as a bizarre curio, skip it.
The 1.33
X 1 image is very, very soft with aliasing errors all over the place from older
analog transfers with detail issues, motion blur and aliasing issues. It might as well be VHS. The Dolby Digital 2.0 is barely stereo and
passable, more like a TV recording of the time.
