Maneater (2006 Telefilm/thriller/Genius/RHI DVD)

Picture: C+     Sound: C     Extras: D     Telefilm: D

A giant killer tiger is on the loose killing everyone and only Gary Busey can stop it, so we are all doomed in Gary Yates awful TV movie Maneater (2006) which is one of the lowest budget cash-ins we have seen in eons.  Busey is awful here literally sleepwalking through this mess where you’ll wish the supposed carnivore ate the teleplay.  One of the worst DVDs of the year, this is outright embarrassing and should be avoided at all costs.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is soft and has more than its share of motion blur, but we have seen even worse, this was shot on digital video of some kind (older HD?) and has color issues throughout.  The Music Video of the same name by Hall & Oates looks better.  The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix is awful, compressed beyond belief and spreads the sound around in vein.  There are no extras.
