Freemasonry Revealed (Koch Vision DVD Set)

Picture: C+     Sound: C+     Extras: C-     Episodes: C+

If you are secret or part of anything secret, it gets attacked.  This includes groups as relatively new as Scientology and as long-running as The Freemasons.  The problem is not so much that said groups do good or bad, but seem to be a distracting target from ones that might actually be up to something bad who have far more power.  In the Freemason case, books like DaVinci Code have made them convenient villains, though the National Treasure films have made them exciting.  The TV Mini-Series Freemasonry Revealed is odd in having members talk well of them, than suddenly jumping to say “but, there is something wrong” silently after every positive moment.

The three episodes are as follows:

1)     The Leaders

2)     The Legends

3)     Conspiracy

This formula grew tired quickly, but I did enjoy the interviews aside from the sloppy editing of the infotainment and the location shoots were interesting.  There is a story to be told here, but this is just too silly and is maybe worth one look if that.  That is if you are not already sick of hearing about the subject.  At least some of the buildings are interesting.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is not bad, but softer than expected and though color is consistent, does not do justice to those old buildings.  The Dolby Digital 2.0 is simple stereo at best, but is clear enough to enjoy.  Inside Freemasonry is older at 1.33 X 1, is the only extra and in about the same mode as the previous shows.
