Caillou – Caillou’s Family Favorites (PBS DVD)

Caillou is
yet another positive, forward-thinking TV series aimed towards developing
children that continues the long line of such healthy viewing PBS has offered
since it began as NET. The pleasantly
animated show is also getting issued in DVD and after several four-episode
volumes, we have received the Family
Favorites disc adding up to “14 adventures” in all.
I had never seen the show and was happy with the
pleasant attitude it offered, along with a child-safe consistency that we see
little of on TV. The title character is
navigating his world well and is sadly more the exception than rule in TV aimed
at a young age group. Let’s hope the
show continues well into the HD era.
The 1.33
X 1 image is likely first-generation with good, simple animation
throughout. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo
is also clean and decent. Extras include
character biographies, DVD-ROM printable coloring pages, parent’s info and
interactive games.
