The Red Green Show 1999: Collector’s Edition (aka The New Red Green Show/Acorn Media)

Picture: C     Sound: C+     Extras: C-     Episodes: C

I noticed that after a break from production, The Red Green Show was dubbed The “New” Red Green Show when the 1997 revival DVD set arrived, but then, with the 1998 and this new 1999 set from Acorn Media.  I am also amazed that the makers still find wacky rural jokes that still work.  We have covered the show in several volumes, with this 1997 review typical of our look at it:

It is more of the same over 16 shows, but unless you are a diehard fan, they all seem interchangeable.  This time, the sound and extras are the same, but the 1.33 X 1 analog NTSC picture is digitally harsh, looking like second generation digital copies with all kinds of aliasing issues and other slight noise.  If you are interested, you should start with one of the other sets (especially older sets) or single of the show, but fans will pick this set up no matter what which is exactly the audience Acorn is serving with so many releases of and in the series to date.
