Visions Of Ireland (Special Interest/Geography/Travel/Acorn Media/DVD-Video)

Though rather belated, Acorn Media has issued the fifth of the HD-shot country-by-country series that has been all over cable/satellite looking good and is the only way see them in their native format still.  Visions Of Ireland is another solid installment with well-researched writing and great fly-by shots of another long series of locations that make the countries in question look at their best.

For picture, this is my least favorite as the anamorphically enhanced 1.78 x 1 image is softer than the others and has more detail issues and aliasing issues than it should.  The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo mix is better, but simple and nothing extraordinary.  The only extra is bonus footage not included in the main piece, but too good to not include.  Now if only Acorn would settle on an HD format and reissue these gems.
