Dogs are
as popular as ever, even down to the increasingly visible world of Dog
Shows. Crufts is one of the top in the world and this DVD set shows how
much expense and time dog lovers and experts will go into to show all types and
breeds. Even after the thorough mocking
the film Best In Show delivered, the
original shows endure and their audience keeps increasing.
Those
expecting the same marathon coverage cable delivers will be disappointed as
despite al the room 3 DVDs offers, each year’s contests have been edited down
to show highlights and that is a bit of a mistake. At less than 75 minutes each, the dogs who
ware the stars are just not shown off to best effect. The result is more like a capsule of so much
and we know more tape is in the vaults, so why not show it. Also, why do Sheep Dogs fare poorly almost
all the time?
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is a little soft and interesting as what
seems to be an HD-to-PAL tradedown, but looks better than the cable
presentations you would see on TV marathons and fans will like that. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo mix is just fine
and cleaner than cable sound. There are
sadly no extras.

above, you can order this import DVD set exclusively from Umbrella at:
