In
another entry from Argentina, Mariano Galpern’s Lili’s Apron (2003) tells the story of a couple falling apart,
including how money is the root of some of the problem. Lili is an excellent cook and a professional
one at that, but when she gets sick, he takes over to the point of pretending
to be her, clothes and all.
No matter
the intent, these kinds of films have become a boring cycle and this more
mature attempt to do said story just does not work. I was looking forward to something more
substantial, but this becomes too comic and problematic as it unwinds. Some may find it worth a look, but you might
need some patience in parts to get through it.
The performances help it, but at least it was ambitious
The
letterboxed 1.78 X 1 image is soft with aliasing issues and other flaws, but
the Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is cleaner and clearer. Extras include a DVD-ROM Discussion guide,
preview for the releases in the 2007 series and showcase that frame-by-frame
shows other titles already issued.
