Operation Homecoming (The Learning Channel/Genius DVD)

Picture: C     Sound: C     Extras: D     Episodes: C+

I am always happy to see U.S. troops coming home, no matter the circumstance, preferably safe, healthy and sound.  This has not been the case often enough and no administration has censored the return of the dead and injured more than the second Bush Administration.  You will not hear any of this on the supposedly liberal, but definitely complicit media, but you will get shows like Operation Homecoming from The Learning Channel that have some good news.

The bad side is that it plays as if everything is fine when it is not, but it is a pretty honest, raw show as far as the real persons involved are concerned.  The other problem is that sadly, this follows a tired formula music and editing strategy that is used for every single cable TV show of the last 20 years which hurts the parts that work.  Only the better parts save the show from dangerous banality.

The 1.33 X 1 image is soft analog NTSC video and not so great, while the Dolby Digital 2.0 sound is barely stereo and the location audio is often a problem.  There are no extras, though there is an appeal to help those coming back.
