“On Eight Is Enough, Gail O’Grady was just one of the family, but she’s
about to discover that ‘eight stab wounds might not me enough’ to stop The Sitter!!!”
What
would Dick Van Patten think?
The
baby-sitter from hell story has been done to death, but that does not stop
people from trying again and again.
However, Director Russell Mulcahy gives it a shot with The Sitter (2007) and the actress as
the lead title character, Mariana Klaveno has some appeal. William R. Moses is even amusing as the
husband as seduction target (basically the opposite of who he played in Mystic Pizza back in 1988) is a plus.
However,
Stephen Niver’s script is just too formulaic, leaving the actors to fend for
themselves and that leads to nothing but predictability, children in jeopardy
and so many generations down from a Fatal
Attraction that the whole thing is pointless when all is said and done.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is a little soft and plain at times, but
edited and shot with some good pacing.
The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo has no surrounds, but the Elia Cmiral (Ronin) score keeps this less boring
than it might otherwise be. There are no
extras.
