That
leaves What’s Going On – The Life &
Death Of Marvin Gaye doing an awkward job of coveting the life of the
singer in a way that many fear will be the fate of any dramatic feature
film. Some of it is typical biopic
convention with too many moments of being talked at when the music is far
deeper. The rare clips are the
highlight, but sometimes, this is just too pat, but worth a look for better and
worse.
This one
is in anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 video and has its share of softness and
motion blur, which is to be expected from most documentaries. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is good, but
nothing spectacular and the music sounds best, but could sound better. Extras include extended interviews and some
of the music clips in their entirety.
