Dick
Durock returns to the role of Swamp Thing for the Third Season. The series ran
for a total of 72 episodes and here on this set we find the first 26 episodes
of the 50 episodes contained in Season
Three. The series continues down the
same adventurous path that the first two seasons followed, with Swamp Thing
ridding the swamp and the surrounding town of evildoers. The story has a huge degree of continuity and
interlocking stories that continue on from Seasons
One and Two; and eventually many plots are still left unresolved due the
series being canceled. Swamp Thing
continues his friendship with Will Kipp a curious young boy who gets into as
much trouble as he helps our big green photosynthetic hero. Dr. Anton Arcane is
evil as ever as he becomes more aware of Swamp Thing’s presence and the damage
that the creature could bring to his dastardly plans. The small town and swamp seem to be in
constant danger, but Swamp Thing sets out to bring order back to the world and
his tattered life.
This
reviewer thoroughly enjoyed this set and thinks that the stories are definitely
a step up from the last two seasons. The
level of detail, action, and character development have all improved; leading
to a more engaging series that many can enjoy.
Though the series surely feels dated at times, it still remains
entertaining from beginning to end. With
the world going green, Swamp Thing
may just be the answer.

The
technical features are similar to Volume
One in that some are greener than others.
The 1.33 X 1 picture remains murky and too dark at times, definitely
suffering some age; the colors are off as well as the contrast and overall just
needs some heavy restoration. The Dolby
Digital 2.0 sound is unimpressive, but has little distortion and the original
score projects well. The extras are
nonexistent this time around, not even offering a simple commentary or
interview; maybe they fell in the swamp?
If you
were a fan of the series and/or purchased Volume
One (Season 1 and 2) then this
is a no brainer to buy. He is the
swamp…and now he is on DVD…
