Another
bad, processed Western, the Luke Perry/C. Thomas Howell/RHI TV movie The Pledge (2008, NOT to be confused
with the great Jack Nicholson film) is a poor excuse for a Revenge Western, the
actors are stuck with bad material, Perry is never convincing in the short 79
minutes we do get and this is a total waste.
Every new Western needs to reinvent the genre and this mess does not
know where to being. Skip it!
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is soft and never looks good, with lame
compositions and limited money on the screen.
The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix lacks any kind of soundfield, stretching the
original, meager soundmaster (which was likely not multi-channel) to
thinness. There are no extras.
