Foyle’s War - Set Five (Acorn Media DVD)

Picture: B-     Sound: B-     Extras: D     Episodes: C

Was Foyle’s War really sinking or is that just he opinion on one critic?  In our previous reviews of the series it became apparent that by Set 4 that the series was starting to wear thin and that trend unfortunately continues with Set 5, you can access our previous reviews here:

The episodes this time are as follows:

Plan of Attack

Broken Souls

All Clear

By this point in time only die-hard fans will be holding on and for that matter tracking down this set to re-watch on DVD.  There is just so few places that the series can go and just like being painted in a corner, it’s running out of space…and quick.

The technical specs are also like the previous sets with a 1.78 X 1 anamorphic transfer and a Dolby Digital 2.0 mix, which can be read in more detail as covered in the first and second set, little has changed since then.  It’s only a shame that the series couldn’t have maintained its early momentum, but then again sometimes a show has a certain life to it and Foyle’s War is probably nearing its end.
