Clifford The Big Red Dog: A Big Help! (Scholastic/Lionsgate DVD)

Picture: C+ Sound: C+ Extras: C Main Program: C+

Lionsgate is finally back with more Clifford The Big Red Dog and in more child-friendly DVD carrying cases with handles. Oh yes, in red plastic. This time, we get A Big Help! It tells us how helpful a giant red dog can be when one is around and humans get into trouble, which is good to know in the five segments included. We previously looked at earlier entries into this series, which you can read about at this link:

Of course, this is a set of metaphors to show children how to be good neighbors, but is also very pleasant and entertaining as this wonderful, child-friendly franchise always is. The picture and sound are as consistently good as they were on the previous volumes, but color is a highlight for more than just the title character. Extras include a few trailers and two shorts on the DVD, but our copy came with a nice booklet, which the previous releases did not. That should be a standard feature from now on.
