Without
Tim Burton and The Addams Family, I
doubt a show like Edgar & Ellen –
Mad Scientists would exist and now the first half of the hit shows first
season (I had never heard of it before) and a Halloween companion are both on
DVD. It is amusing at best, fairly well
written and the animation is fair, but both variations were everything we’d
seen before and made me wish Warner had issued the Hanna-Barbera animated Addams Family at the same time. The half-season is comprised of 13 episodes
The anamorphically
enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is a little soft, but is consistent with good color. The Dolby Digital 5.1 mixes in all cases are
on the weak side and seem like an after thought. Extras include minute games and bonus
animated shorts in both releases.
