Like Little
People, Big World, The Learning Channel thinks that it is more educational
to show reality TV with families than just outright exploitation as these shows
usually feature and Jon & Kate Plus Eight Kids is as cheap to produce as any of them. The first two seasons are now out on DVD and
it is the usual, predictable fare with “cute kids” syndrome in the middle.
Too bad we have seen this a million times and we
don’t get much new to enjoy. The result
is pleasant at best, but should these children (or anyone’s children) be on
camera so often? It cannot be healthy.
The 1.33
x 1 image is shot in analog NTSC video and in that it is in very good shape,
with just enough color consistency. The
Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is the usual mix of music added later, location audio
and editing typical of the style of such shows. The only extras is a behind the scenes
featurette.
