Not every great performer can have a great night and Sammy Davis Jr. – Live In Australia 1979 is one of those concerts.  The all-around entertainer delivers the following songs:

1)     Sing

2)     Candy Man

3)     Theme From “Baretta”

4)     The Lady Is A Tramp

5)     I’ve Gotta Be Me

6)     I Write The Songs

7)     If I Loved You (from Carousel)

8)     I Can Do That (from A Chorus Line)

9)     As Time Goes By

10)  Mr. Bojangles

11)  MEDLEY from Stop The World – I Want To Get Off

Though it is better than many of the new performers we have suffered through lately, Davis seems a bit out of his element and though the song selection is welcome, the show is just off base and despite a good audience never gels.

The 1.33 X 1 image is at least one generation down form what looks like a PAL analog taping, even affecting the color, while the Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono can be veiled and is somewhat compressed throughout.  There are no extras.
