Though it
is not going into the direction I had hoped, The New Adventures Of The Old Christine is still a moderate hit and
you can read about its beginnings at this link:

It is
hanging in there, but is losing some energy with its set-up, but I am still
surprised there are people who will not watch the show because they so lived Seinfeld. I will add that the 22 half-hours here are
still better than most sitcoms today and there are those who could not watch The Lucy Show after I Love Lucy ended, so that is
understandable. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is
still funny and a very gifted comic actress, but for the next seasons, the show
needs to take some risks. Until then, it
will hold steady.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image has more softness than expected as
before and I would have liked, as well as motion blur, but its other
consistencies help that out and make the flaws more tolerable. The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix is not only not very
active, sticking the dialogue more in the center channel than one would like,
but seems to be losing some sounds in the surrounds to where this sometimes
plays like 1.0 Mono! That can be very
trying. Extras include deleted/unaired
scenes and another gag reel.
