Salt: A Fatal Attraction (Cinema Epoch DVD)

Picture: B-     Sound: C+     Extras: C+     Film: C+

Part thriller and part horror film Bradford Tatum’s 2006 film Salt: A Fatal Attraction deals with a wife who finds out about her abusive husbands extra-martial relationship.  Upon finding this out, she begins to seek out her revenge in a highly unique, fascinating, and ultimately cruel way …salt.  At times the film is teetering between the lines of the erotic thriller, what it can show and what it means, but once the revenge begins it quickly turns into a dark and eerie tale.  The biggest challenge is for the film to work as a feature film, it would have probably served best if envisioned as a short film instead.

Presented in a 1.78 X 1 anamorphic widescreen transfer the overall look of the film is fairly detailed for this DVD release, although there is a bit of softness and lack of depth and definition from time to time.  Colors feel more muted than they should be and the overall feel is rather lackluster.  The Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo mix is passable, but nothing extraordinary by any means.

Also included is an alternate ending, still gallery and the trailer for the film.

Worth a look, but that’s about it.
