The Partridge Family – The Complete Fourth & Final Season (1973 - 74/Sony DVD)

Picture: C+     Sound: C+     Extras: D     Episodes: C

After a solid hit TV run, The Partridge Family series was coming to an end.  Was it because of changing times, fickle teenagers or the show becoming repetitive on some level?  No matter, there was still plenty of energy and chemistry with the cast, but you may want to find out more about the show first.  Here is our previous coverage:

The Complete Fourth & Final Season (1973 – 4/22 episodes) made its biggest mistake in adding a “cute new kid” character to the family who was not really part of the family.  He was Ricky Segall in an embarrassing, failed attempt to keep the show going when the makers should have just left well enough alone.  It is awkward, unnecessary and the supporting children looked just fine, if that were the issue.  It all seems as forced as Dave Madden’s Ruben Kincaid wearing a mustache, which he is here for some reason.  The new kid’s mother was played by the great Nita Talbot, who never shows up again after her introduction or played by anyone else.  Cheryl Ladd, Harold Gould, Gordon Jump, Gary Morgan, Pat Harrington, Richard Mulligan, Ivor Francis, Larry Wilcox, Liam Dunn, Alan Oppenheimer, James Gregory, Ty Henderson and Margaret Hamilton are among the guest stars.

The picture and sound are all the same as the last set and as good, but even for this final set, there are no extras.
