Tom & Jerry Tales – Volume Six (Warner DVD)

Picture: C+     Sound: C+     Extras: C-     Episodes: C+

Tom & Jerry Tales continues to come out on DVD and is now such a success, the biggest since they started TV revivals, that Warner and Hanna-Barbera are planning to do another feature film.  This time it will be computer animated, though we hope the stars don’t talk this time and no sign as to whether there are musical numbers or not.

Here are the links for our coverage of the previous volumes we looked at:

The show continues to be top rate and Warner is putting the money in it, but except for a child audience or big fans of the characters, I cannot draw a difference between these shows and those in previous volumes, expect that they do look good and the makers care.  They fit 15 shorts on this single DVD and are child-safe enough that you can’t go wrong with them.

The 1.33 X 1 image once again is clean and colorful, making the classic characters look as good as they have in decades, though I wish the stories were stronger.  The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is also decent.  The only extras are trailers for other Warner animation DVDs.
