Brokeback Mountain (Universal Blu-ray)

Brokeback Mountain is back and Universal is issuing it as Milk is released on Blu-ray and DVD.  The film has already arrived on DVD twice and was issued in the now defunct HD-DVD format.  This is our fourth time covering it and the following DVD versions will give you all the details about the film:

Now we look at the Blu-ray version, which is as good looking and sounding as the HD side of the discontinued Combo Format edition in this 1080p 1.85 X 1 digital High Definition version.  Director of Photography Rodrigo Prieto’s cinematography again really looks fine here, much more like the film prints.  The DTS HD Master Audio (MA) lossless 5.1 sound is the best version offered yet, surpassing the regular and Dolby configurations from the previous editions.  Still, this is dialogue-based, so the improvements are only so outstanding.  All previous extras have been included, plus you get interactive BD Live functions.
