The Kite Runner + A Mighty Heart + Things We Lost In The Fire (Paramount

Paramount
and DreamWorks are continuing to reissue films on Blu-ray they issued on DVD
and the now defunct HD-DVD format. Of
the new batch, it is ironic that two of them were barely issued on HD-DVD as
the format fell to Blu-ray, but we have covered all three films just the same
as the following links will show:
The Kite Runner DVD

A Mighty Heart HD-DVD + DVD

Things We Lost In The Fire DVD

It is
also by coincidence that all three have a 2.35 X 1 aspect ratio and the two we
did not cover on HD-DVD (Runner, Fire) look far better here in their
1080p digital High Definition presentations than their anamorphically enhanced
DVD counterparts. Still, they have image
limits, while Heart looks as
surprisingly impressive as it did before on the out-of-print format. The Dolby TrueHD 5.1 mix is also identical to
that older version. The other films also
have TrueHD 5.1 mixes that do their best to make the sound as clear and clean
as possible, but they are dialogue-based productions, so only expect so
much. The extras are also all the same,
though the trailers are upgraded to High Definition. Thus, justice has been done to all three
films in Blu-ray, but Heart is the
playback winner.
