Gary Moore & Friends – One Night In Dublin: A Tribute To Phil Lynott (Eagle Blu-ray)

Picture: B     Sound: B     Extras: C     Concert: C+

Eagle has issued more Gary Moore, but instead of the Live At Montreux: 1990 concert they issued on DVD a few years ago, it is a new tribute show.  Before we get to it, you can read more about Moore and that release at this link:

The songs this time out include:

1)     Walking By Myself

2)     Jailbreak

3)     Don’t Believe A Word

4)     Emerald

5)     Still In Love With You

6)     Black Rose

7)     Cowboy Song

8)     The Boys Are Back in Town

9)     Whiskey In A Jar

10)  Old Town (excerpt)

11)  Parisienne Walkways

Not as long or as involving as the previous release, the show is still very good and the playback far better than that DVD.  This was taped on August 19, 2005 and is 15 years later, but the talent and energy are there.  Yet, part of it is simply that it is a tribute and their minds are concentrated on his memory.  That does not hurt the concert, but gives it a different feel.  Not bad overall.

The 1080i 1.78 X 1 image is pretty good for such an HD production of its time, with good color, some good depth and detail, though you can still see limits throughout.  Sadly, the three sound options are not great.  The PCM 2.0 Stereo is weak, Dolby Digital 5.1 not much better and DTS-HD Master Audio (MA) lossless 5.1 not too impressive and all sound a bit more compressed than any of them should.  That disappoints, but it could be worse.  Interviews are the only extras.
