Two & A Half Men – The Complete Fifth Season (Warner DVD)

Picture: C+     Sound: C+     Extras: D     Episodes: D

In the latest Mad Magazine, distributed by Warner Bros. who also handles and produces Two & A Half Men, they have a great spoof called Two & A Half Wits about how formulaic and dumb the show is and always was.  When they hit it on the head, they go all the way and are often funnier than the comedies they spoof.  That was the only think that made watching The Complete Fifth Season more bearable than it would have been otherwise.  I was no longer a lone victim.

To know how slight I felt the first season was, here is the link to that review:

By this point, everyone looks tired except Conchata Ferrell, who is so above this that it is just a paycheck that can never be large enough.  I will have to watch Mystic Pizza 3 times to totally expel the nightmare these 19 half-hours of half-wits cause all who are not amused.  It also reminds me how much greater a show Big Bang Theory is.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is as lame and limited as ever when it should be the best-looking set here.  The sound is no better and still not here in a 5.1 mix.  Talk about coasting.  Extras include three featurettes and a CSI episode that references the show.  Is that why William Peterson left?
