Phillies Memories is a must have for all
Philadelphia Phillies Fans! As one of
the oldest teams in Major League Baseball the Philadelphia Phillies have
accrued a plethora of memories; many that fans recall and others that have been
long forgotten. This DVD takes the
viewer on a journey from the forming of the team in 1883 all the way up to the
epic 2008 World Series.
With six
Pennants, two Titles, and history of greatness the Philadelphia Phillies have
shocked and amazed fans from the very beginning and this DVD houses many of
those unforgettable moments. The DVD is
narrated by the late great Harry Kalas (who sadly passed away on April 13,
2009) and does an excellent job of capturing the enthusiasm that is the
Philadelphia Phillies.
This will
not be such a great DVD for any baseball fan, but for Phillies fans this is a
must have and will act as a good compliment to the recently released World
Series DVDs and Blu-rays.
The
picture, sound and extras on this DVD are adequate and get the job done quite
nicely. The anamorphically enhanced 1.78
X 1 widescreen picture presentation has solid colors, adequate crispness and
whereas the picture footage greatly varies according to which old documentary
footage is used, overall it is properly presented. The sound is presented in a Dolby Digital 2.0
Stereo that once again varies according to what old footage is used, but from
beginning to end the narration by Harry Kalas is spectacular and it is nice to
hear his voice.
The
extras include Legendary Last Outs, “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” with Jimmy
Rollins and Ryan Howard – Raw, Last Out of No-Hitters – Bunning, Wise,
Mulholland, Greene, Millwood, and Larry Anderson Sprays on Fake Hair. All of the extras are extremely entertaining
and Phillies fans will find themselves showing them off to other fans as they
are not only informative and entertaining, but many are very funny.
