Young & Handsome – A Night With Jeff Garlin (Shout! Factory DVD)

I have
not seen much of the hit TV series Curb
Your Enthusiasm, but I do know Jeff Garlin and he is a capable stand-up
comic and comic actor. However, with Young & Handsome – A Night With Jeff
Garlin, I am only moderately amusing exercise in deadpan humor for longer
than it should be. The audience is with
him and his celebrity helps, but he is at least consistent.
It is not
that what he is saying is totally unfunny and delivery is part of this persona,
but some of it is obvious and other points are just not that memorable. If you are a fan, you’ll want to see it, but
others will want to consider more carefully if they will laugh or be bored.
The anamorphically
enhanced 1.78 X 1 digital High Definition image is a little soft and has a
little motion blur, but color is consistent and the camera is not all over the
place. The audience in the background
can look poor. The Dolby Digital 2.0
Stereo is good if not great, but clean and clear enough to hear him. Extras include deleted scenes and Bob
Odenkirk interviewing Garlin.
