Third Watch – The Complete Second Season (2000/Warner DVD)

In a wave of more hit medical show, Third Watch was one that never worked out much, though it was hoped that Michael Beach, Coby Bell, Amy Carlson and Eddie Cibrian could be household names if this was a hit.  It was not.  We looked at the first season and you can read about it and the show at this link:

This new set has 22 hour-long shows over 6 DVDs and though the makers are trying to make a good show, it is just everything we have seen before, including the off-hand humor and usual situations we have seen since hits like Emergency!  I will give the cast credit for effort and there is some chemistry here, but the show never added up and now with the Dennis Leary hit Rescue Me has surpassed it.  It is at least a curio some might enjoy, but those viewers should start with the first set.

The 1.33 X 1 image is not great, looks like a filmed show finished on analog NTSC video and not as good as the last set, if it looked that good to begin with.  The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is weak but passable, while fans should know that music was changed for rights reasons.  The only extra is a gag reel.
