Mill Creek’s 8 Complete Episodes Wave DVDs (Ironside/McHale’s Navy/Men Behaving Badly (U.S. Version)/Punky Brewster/Swamp Thing)

Picture: C     Sound: C-     Extras: D     Episodes: C+

Courtesy of Shout! Factory, Mill Creek Entertainment is issuing abbreviated versions of series Shout! has issued full seasons of.  We have covered the shows in most cases and include links to our previous reviews in those cases:

Ironside – Season One

Two

McHale’s Navy – It is amazing we never covered the military comedy series, but the show is not bad, though it does not hold up like Gomer Pyle, but the cast holds up when the scripts do not and the sample of shows here are not bad.

Men Behaving Badly (U.S. Version) is the worst show here, which says something since Punky Brewster is so incredibly dreadful, but Rob Schneider is responsible for some of the worst entertainment production since he left Saturday Night Live and the horror never ends.

Punky Brewster – Season Three

Swamp Thing - Season One

Two

The Ironside shows are not bad, but the full sets work better, Punks is as bad as ever and Swamp is a show I am even less impressed with than my fellow critic.  I can see the economic reason to release condensed sets, but the quality of the 1.33 X 1 image (which is softer than the Shout! counterparts) and Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono sound are poor, tends to be more distorted than expected in all cases, sometimes very badly so, so be careful upon playback.  There are no extras in any release.
