A Touch Of Frost – Season 14 (MPI DVD)

Picture: C+     Sound: C+     Extras: D     Telefilms: C+

David Jason is hanging in there as Chief Inspector Frost as A Touch Of Frost unbelievably enters its fourteenth season.  Though we have looked at few of them, we have seen a few along the way and you can find out more at the link to our coverage of the debut season at this link:

Though the show is no better or worse than before in general, I found Jason better than the material this time around.  The three telefilms featured on the two DVDs this time are:

Mind Games – Is a return to child abduction, with a case picked up 20 years after a young 14-year-old girl disappears.  The show is starting to repeat itself a bit here and redoing ideas just because they are going widescreen is an issue.

Dead End – Frost has to work with someone on the force who caused him trouble in the past.  Can they get along or will a murderer go free?

In The Public Interest – Frost versus a rich man who is up to no good and is wreckless with his ownership of media.

At this point, the show has gone widescreen and is here in anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 presentations.  You still get some muted colors, but it looks like we get new motion blur since this is likely a 1080i production at best.  The sound remains Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo with limited surround information, but it is a little clearer, yet some digital harshness can be heard.  There are no extras.
