Picture: C     Sound: C+     Extras: C-     Episodes: C-

Continuing our coverage of the inexplicably successful series GRΣΣK, for those unfamiliar with the series, here is our coverage of the first two seasons, including explanations of what the show is about:

Chapter One (First Season)

My fellow critic wrote those up and part of the reason why is because I was not a fan of the show to begin with.  He quickly grew tired of it, so I thought I would see how it was and at this point.  After going through the ten hour-long shows, why has this dumb series not been axed by now?

The would-be drama/comedy about college living and life makes the somewhat overrated TV version of Friday Night Lights look like Room 222 at its groundbreaking, cutting edge peak.  Though not a fan of the show initially, is it me or did this just become sillier and more shallow and boring than it began being?  Whatever the result, this has definitely drifted in the worst possible direction and it is amazing I did not fall asleep through all this.  The writing is juvenile and weak, the acting so-so and story arc dead.  I will be shocked if this is renewed for another season, especially when great shows like The Beast are getting axed and Mad Men sabotaged by its home network.  Time to expel the creators and producers.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is softer than a new production should be with too much motion blur and a generally weak shoot throughout the shows.  The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix is compressed at times and a little too narrow, dialogue-based and all.  Extras include audio commentary tracks, bloopers that are not too funny and 20 Questions with the Cast.
