Clatterford – The Complete Season Two (2007 – 2008/aka Jam & Jerusalem/BBC DVD)

Though it has not made the splash of hit TV shows like French & Saunders and Absolutely Fabulous, Clatterford is enjoying a hit run and we previously looked at The Complete Season One a little while ago and thought it not bad:

That is a while, but I expected that when the show rolled around, it would get funnier or flatter.  No Joanna Lumley was a bad omen and the show did not stick with me.  By this time, I was hoping to be surprised and it just does not work as well.  It is likely hitting a certain audience on target, but that is a very narrow one and if you must see this one, start at the beginning.  That way, you might have more of a chance of enjoying this Complete Season Two.

As before, the anamorphically enhanced 1.78 x 1 image is soft, looks like it was shot in digital High Definition and is not as color rich as previous Sanders shows, though in this case, it might be by choice.  Detail is an issue, but the visual gags come across well enough.  The Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo is simple and clear, so you can hear all the jokes, but there are no surrounds.  This time, we don’t even get and extras.
