How I Met Your Mother – Season Four (2008 – 2009/Fox Blu-ray)

It is
hard to understand the appeal of hit shows like How I Met Your Mother, but part of it (like Two & A Half Men, though this show is not that annoying) depends on if you can invest yourself into the
actors or characters. Our coverage of
the following seasons shows both sides of this:

Well,
here we are with Season Four and
even with the rise of Jason Segel in some hit comedies (and non hits, none of
which I found funny), what little the show had going for it is growing thin
very quickly, but now, it is also now on Blu-ray in High Definition and that
still does not make it any easier to watch.
All 24 half-hours are here on three Blu-rays and I just found the whole
thing boring. Guess you had to be there
in the beginning… oh, I sort of was and forgot.
Needless
to say Neil Patrick Harris is still the big name and maybe Josh Radnor and
Alyson
Hannigan will continue their careers whenever this winds down, but this whole show
is for fans only at this point and if you have any chance of enjoying the show,
you might want to start at the Season
One.
The 1080p
1.78 X 1 AVC @ 18 MBPS+ digital High Definition image is on the soft side
throughout with motion blur and not a very memorable presentation, but hit sis
what you’d expect from a sitcom. The
DTS-HD Master Audio (MA) 5.1 mixes are also underwhelming throughout, since
this is dialogue/joke-based and is not going to be sonically great. Extras include a recap of the last season,
Gag Reel of some worth, Audio Commentary on Select Episodes and A Night With Your Mother panel
discussion.
