As a gag, you might be interested in the work of one Todd
Robbins. He is a trickster and humorist
whose specialty is deception. Three of
his programs covering this approach to life are now all featured in The Modern Con Man Collection. We get the following titles:
How To Scam Your Way
To Free Beer and other bar bets
Poker-Night Games
and other card playing tricks
Workplace Pranks and
other ways top con your co-workers
In real life, doing most of these without warning to
others could get you arrested, physically assaulted or even killed. Of course, this is meant to be comic and it
often is, you will get laughs that are usually at other people’s expense and
this is about as funny as Martin Scorsese’s The King of Comedy. However,
it has its special interest and novelty appeal and factoids are added at the
beginning of many chapters on the Poker and Workplace DVDs, so you will find
something amusing here. Robbins has done
the talk show rounds, so you might even recognize him.
The 1.33 X 1 image is soft and originates on low-def
digital video, but it can be colorful and the sources are clean. The Dolby Digital 2.0 sound across the three
are simple stereo at best with a location sound feel. Extras include more bonus tricks per disc.
