The Secret Saturdays: Vol. 2 (Cartoon Network/Warner DVD)

Picture: C+     Sound: C+     Extras: C     Episodes: B-

Join the Saturdays on their adventures, as they search the world over for Cryptids.  They protect mankind from the Cryptids and to search for clues to the tome of Kur.  Both scientists and adventurers, the Saturdays travel the world in their airship to where ever Cryptids appear.  More often they find and fight with the Villain Argost, who wants to exploit Cryptids and revive Kur, a source of unlimited power and eternal life.  Zak and his parents along their adopted family Fiskerton a "gorilla-cat", Komodo a genetically-altered komodo dragon, and Zon the Pterosaur work with the Secret Scientist to uncover the secrets of the Cryptids.

In Secret Saturdays, folklore and legends aren't just legends, they are for real.  The Saturdays travel the world to keep their existence hidden from the rest of the world, all the meanwhile searching for pieces of the Kur Stone.  Like their namesake they find excitement and adventure where ever they go.  Zak with his claw allows him to communicate, sometime even control various Cryptids, Doc Saturday along with his various inventions and his intellect lead the team, Drew Saturday with her Fire Sword and Martial Arts faces various danger, and along with their adopted members of the family seek to stop the revival of Kur.

If you like legends, folklore, this animation has it all.  This show is all about monsters and legends around the world, from lost civilizations to various sea creatures.  Somehow they are all connected to a mysterious 'Kur', and that if 'Kur' ever returned it would be very bad.  Each episode features a new 'Cryptid', more often as the Saturdays are not only trying to stop Argost; they are saving their own skins and trying to keep Zak out of trouble.  The series has comical one-liner jokes and it is fun to watch how the Saturdays still have time to raise a family, extras include deleted scenes, drawings and a Cryptid catalog.
