A simple,
somewhat smart TV series aimed at a young female audience, Make It Or Break It is a competent-at-best program about another
new-kind-in-town-outsider with talent entering into school gymnastics at a
school with rich gals who have a team going.
Their parents are already thinking endorsements and they have not even
entered The Olympics or professional competition yet!
Thin
writing and soap opera dramatics make this as simple as it can be, but the
actors cast have some appeal and the Volume
One set features all 10 initial episodes for better and worse. Yes, maybe some of the actors will move on to
better things, but I wonder how long this can go on before the intended
audience gets bored. This critic almost
fell asleep a few times.
The
anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is soft and nothing to write home about,
including predicable lighting meant to be clean and clear like a sitcom
somewhat. The Dolby Digital 5.1 is on the
weak side with sound too often towards the front speakers and dialogue stuck in
the center channel, sounding a little boxy.
Extras include Deleted Scenes, Extended Finale Episode and a behind the
scenes look at the show.
