Midgets vs. Mascots (2009 Mockumentary/First Look DVD)

Picture: C     Sound: C     Extras: D     Feature: D

Because some people still think negativity and one-joke features are somehow funny, Ron Carlson’s inept Midgets vs. Mascots (2009) wants to make fun of both and the producers pulled in Gary Coleman, Jason Mewes, Scotty Pippen and Ron Jeremy in this Mockumentary (or muckumentary in this case) in which two groups still being attacked verbally and otherwise attack each other.  Note that most of the name people here do not qualify for the former and hardly for the latter.

The result is a total waste of time, but with some wit, could have been at least passively interesting and both Mewes and Coleman have comic talent, but this is a pointless dud.  It is not exactly like the series Jackass and any similarity to Borat might as well be more like Sasha Baron Cohen’s much lesser Bruno, if not that obnoxious.  See this one at your own risk.

The anamorphically enhanced 1.78 X 1 image is much softer than expected throughout considering this is a new production.  I would have liked it to look better, but after watching it for a few minutes, realized it would stay this way throughout.  The Dolby Digital 5.1 mix spreads thin what sounds like barely stereo sound in some places, mono and bad location sound about as often.  Extras include Character Featurettes and Deleted Scenes.
