Fraggle Rock – Wembley’s Egg Surprise (Lionsgate DVD)

Picture: C+     Sound: C+     Extras: C     Episodes: C+

Along with recent animated sets we have covered, Lionsgate has also issued a DVD single for the TV series Fraggle Rock.  I covered the second season a while ago at this link:

This features three episodes of the show picked to deal with food and the single obviously has (in release date included) Easter considered.  For children, this is just fine for a single, but fans will more likely want complete sets, whether they like live action, animation or both.  The three live-actions shows here are:

1)     Wembley’s Egg

2)     The Great Radish Famine

3)     The Finger Of Light

The show did not stay with me after all this time, but its appeal is totally understandable.  Maybe it is because I am from the original Sesame Street generation before they scrubbed the “street” out of it, but this is still a good show worthy of Henson’s best and has his mark on it, so it is at least a good sampler if you have never seen the show before.

The picture and sound quality are exactly the same, which is not bad and just fine.  Extras include A Look At Jim Henson’s Animal Show, Great Radish Round-Up episode of the animated series and 2 sing-a-longs.
