The Lord Peter Wimsey Mysteries – Set One (1972 - 73/Acorn Media DVD)

Years ago, we covered a great DVD set of Dorothy L. Sayers’ classic detective Lord Peter Wimsey.  Acorn issued a 10-DVD set with all the episodes that made up all five adventures from the BBC TV version with Ian Carmichael.  Here is what we found with The Complete Collection:

Now, Acorn has decided to issue the show in smaller sets and Set One features The Unpleasantness At The Bellona Club and Clouds Of Witness in a 3-DVD collection.  They hold up well enough, though have been seemingly squeezed into less disc space.  Performance picture wise may suffer very, very slightly, but the results are the same.  If you like classic mystery, you might as well buy the entire box set.  Wimsey has not returned anywhere and Carmichael continues to be the most successful actor to take on the role.  Text production notes, text bio of Sayers and the 2000 Carmichael interview are repeated here.

This still makes a solid set of mysteries and is recommended if you don’t want the whole series on one big box.
