Bill Moyers is a world renowned journalist, who has had such amazing accomplishments as serving as the Press Secretary for Lyndon B. Johnson.  In recent years Bill Moyers has made himself famous (and rich no doubt) doing a number of public speaking appearances and making a series of documentaries.  Recently DVD has been the format of choice for Moyers releasing a number of religion inspired documentaries.

First we have Bill Moyers – Genesis: A Living Conversation, which discusses creation, humanity’s fall, the flood, Abraham and Isaac, Joseph in Egypt, and much more.  Moyers dives head first into the stories that have inspired religions for generations.  Moyers essentially heads a round table discussion featuring some of the most influential and accomplished minds.  Unique perspectives are given all around as the ancient tales are picked apart to uncover deeper meaning, historical significance and to separate fact from fiction.  In all 10 well known biblical stories are discussed, each displaying a huge degree of passion and insight.  The topics featured on this set are as follows:

  • In God’s Image
  • Temptation
  • The First Murder
  • Apocalypse
  • Call and Promise
  • Family Affair
  • The Test
  • Blessed Deception
  • God Wrestling
  • Exile

For anyone who has read the Bible or at least has a mild understanding of its writings, then it is no surprise that it features some of the most violent, sexual explicit and controversial text of all time.  Moyers and his guests discuss the ins and outs that have made the Bible so shocking, tragic and fascinating.
