If
you're a fan of Gangster and mob-type stories or movies like The
Godfather, Goodfellas, or Public Enemies, then you
can't go wrong with Making Of The Mob: New York (2015), an
awesome movie/TV mini-series documentary that tells of the rise of
several New York Gangsters through cinematic reenactments and
photographs.
Emmy-winning
actor Ray Liotta -- who starred as real-life gangster Henry Hill in
Martin Scorsese's GoodFellas -- narrates an eight-part
docudrama that traces the rise of organized crime in America. The
series blends dramatic scenes, archival footage and visual effects to
show how notorious wiseguys like Charles "Lucky" Luciano
and Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel transformed from neighborhood
gang members in the early 1900s to murderous entrepreneurs and
bootleggers. Included are exclusive interviews with former New York
City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, Meyer Lansky II, Chazz Palminteri, Drea
de Matteo, Joe Mantegna, Frankie Valli (of the group The Four
Seasons), mob attorney and former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman,
noted author and historian David Pietrusza, and many others.
There
are eight episodes including The Education of Lucky Luciano, Equal
Opportunity Gangster, King of New York, A Rising Threat, Exit
Strategy, The Mob at War, New Frontiers, and End Game.
Presented
in high definition with a sharp 1080p transfer and a widescreen
aspect ratio of 1.78:1 paired with a lossless Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track,
the show looks and sounds amazing on Blu-ray disc; especially for a
documentary mini-series. Extras include Additional Scenes, The
Real Arnold Rothstein, The Secret Wife Of A Mob Wife, The Mob and
Mussolini, Style, Mob Innovations, and Mob Shrink.
This
is a loaded release with lots of cool stuff for both fans of Gangster
films and historians as well.
